Hamza Bawazir

Hamza K. Bawazir is the Secretary General of the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI), bringing over 20 years of leadership experience in Islamic finance, Shariah governance and compliance, product development, risk management, corporate governance, and Islamic financial market development. Prior to joining CIBAFI, he served as Head of the Shariah Division at Saudi National Bank (SNB), where he led Shariah advisory, governance, development, and control functions across corporate, retail, treasury, and investment banking. He is also actively engaged in international Islamic finance standard-setting, serving as a Board Member of AAOIFI and contributing to the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM). He holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation, an Executive MBA (EMBA), and bachelor’s degrees in Islamic Jurisprudence/Shariah and Business Administration.
