Bakhrom Juraev
Deputy Director, Department for Regulation of Credit Organizations & Head of the Thematic Project Office for Islamic Finance Development, Central Bank of Republic of Uzbekistan
Bakhrom Juraev is a head of the Islamic finance project office and deputy director of the Credit Institutions Regulation Department of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
Within his career, he was one of the key specialists in drafting the regulation on the procedure for providing Islamic finance services by microfinance organizations. Furthermore, Mr. Juraev has led the development of the law on introducing Islamic banking activities in Uzbekistan, which came into force on 27.06.2026.
As Head of the Islamic Finance Project Office, he coordinates the development of national Islamic finance standards with the Central Bank’s Islamic Finance Board, oversees the development of the regulatory and supervisory framework for Islamic banking activities, and leads cooperation with international standard-setting bodies such as AAOIFI and IFSB.
